Yeah, getting old has disadvantages. I think my brain is going soft. I have two old eMachines that are going out either to sell or pitch in the can, so I reset both disk drives with Windows 10 installations and opted to wipe each disk. When I turned on one PC Edge came up and before I could stop it -- the thing synced with my laptop that was on-line and mixed all kinds of stuff in my laptop Edge settings and Favorites. Sometimes it is just not good to get up from bed. Anyway, after cleaning out my laptop I reset the other old PC but isolated it from Internet and shut down the profile in Edge so it would not sync with anything. Okay, maybe a good night’s sleep will cure stupidity.

It sounds like you had an unexpected synchronization issue with Microsoft Edge between your old eMachines and your laptop, which led to some challenges with the settings and favorites. It's not uncommon for such situations to occur due to automatic sync settings.

To prevent such synchronization issues in the future, you may want to consider these steps:

1. Turn Off Edge Sync on Old PCs: If you have access to the old eMachines, make sure to turn off Edge sync on both machines to prevent any further data syncing to your laptop.

2. Review Sync Settings: On your laptop, review the sync settings in Microsoft Edge. You can choose what to sync and what not to sync, including favorites, browsing history, passwords, and other settings. Adjust these settings according to your preferences.

3. Clean Up Edge Data: If your laptop has been affected by the sync from the old PCs, consider cleaning up Edge data to remove any unwanted bookmarks, browsing history, or other synced information. You can manage this within the Edge browser settings.

4. Reset Sync: You can also reset the syncing state of Edge entirely. This will stop syncing temporarily and allow you to choose how to proceed with syncing in the future.

5. Disconnect Devices from Sync: If necessary, disconnect your old eMachines from your Microsoft account to prevent further syncing issues.

Following these steps should help you address the synchronization challenges you faced with Microsoft Edge syncing between your old eMachines and your laptop. Don't worry, we all have moments where things catch us off guard. It's all part of the learning experience!
