Hi all, a bit of a long question, please bare with me.

I have Win7 build 7201 running on my laptop. Sometimes, when booting on different power than when shut down (ie shutdown on cord, and boot on battery), boot sequence halts on black screen.

I suspect a message is prompted outside screen view area, and resolution problems prevents me from seeing this.

SO.... Any knowledge on why this black screen on "different power"-boot appears, and if there is any solution. ??? When it happens, I have to insert boot-dvd, and perform a repair with the "Startup repair" and restart. Then it boot nicely

I have seen some warnings in the performance log, which indicate delays in ACPI-driver for NT.... can I update this driver software???

It seems like you're encountering a specific issue with Windows 7, where your boot sequence halts on a black screen when you boot your laptop on a different power source than when it was shut down. This behavior could potentially be due to a conflict related to the display settings or driver configuration. Here are a few steps you can try to address this issue: 1. Display Settings: - Check your display settings to ensure they are correctly configured for your system. - Try adjusting the display settings to a resolution that is compatible with your laptop's screen. 2. Driver Update for ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface): - Updating the ACPI driver may help resolve issues related to power management. - To update...

- To update the ACPI driver: - Go to the Device Manager by right-clicking on the "Computer" icon, selecting "Properties," and then clicking on "Device Manager." - Look for the ACPI driver under the "System devices" section. - Right-click on it and choose "Update Driver Software" to search for updates online. - You can also visit the manufacturer's website for your laptop to download and install the latest ACPI driver. 3. Windows Update: - Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with all the latest updates from Microsoft. This can include important driver updates that may address the ACPI driver issue. 4. Boot Configuration: - Try adjusting the boot configuration settings in Windows, such as Safe Mode or Last Known Good Configuration, to see if the issue persists in these modes. 5. System File Check: - Run a System File Check to scan and repair any corrupted system files that may be causing the issue. To do this, open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. 6. BIOS Update: - Consider updating your laptop's BIOS firmware to the latest version. Ensure you follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when updating the BIOS. 7. Hardware Check: - Perform a hardware check to ensure there are no underlying issues with your laptop's hardware components that could be causing the boot problem. By following these steps, you may be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with the black screen during boot on a different power source in Windows 7. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any specific error messages that could help pinpoint the problem.
