    Hi All

I built a new PC a couple of days ago.

OS: Windows Home Premium 64 bit (I now know I have to upgrade this to utilize 24Gb RAM)
    CPU: i7-980X Extreme Edition
    MOBO: ASUS P6X58D-E
    RAM: Corsair XMS (6x4Gb) CMX4GX3M1A1333C9
    VID: Gigabyte GTX480
HD: Crucial RealSSD 128Gb (2x128GB) RAID 0. Intel Raid Controller
    PSU: 1100 Watt
AV: AVG (after reading the forums, I removed this after the Last BSOD)

I had a couple of BSOD on the first night. MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. I did not have small dump files set up, so I can not attach them.

I updated the drivers from the ASUS website. This did add a level of stability.

Since then I have had a couple of issues with World of Warcraft having critical errors.

This was followed by a BSOD "PAGE_FAULT_NOT_IN_"something".

I could not get memtest86 to run as ISORecorder will not install correctly on my system. (Any suggestions on this?) When I right click on an ISO file it doesn't have the drop down menu to write to CD. I did download the 64bit version.

I have attached the dump files form last night.

    Thanks in advance.

    - Stew

Thanks, I have created the ISO Memtest file.

I will reboot my PC, let memtest run.

I will be able to review your feedback via my ipad; after I have given my son his lunch.

I should be about 45 minutes.

    Thanks

    Stew

    1. Replace AVG with MSE.

    2. Update your motherboard drivers:

I meant while you were reinstalling AVG I would be reading your crash dump, that's it. Yes, you did attach the right .dmp (22.10.2010) - but you should have attached a few over the past couple of days, there might be something new.

I will stop the me test after I give my son lunch and attach the other dump files. Does it matter that those aren't the reduced size dumps?

Also, I went to the Asus website yesterday and downloaded all the latest drivers they had listed for my motheroboard.

is it OK to dowload drivers from the non motherboard manufacturers websites?

Another thing i noticedis the BIOs says 24gb of Ram, but in windows properties it says 20 gb. Is this normal?

Memtest never hurts, it should run overnight really. I didn't tell you to run it yet, but you can do this anytime over 8 hours. Up to you.

As for .dmp's, the one you've attached is the right size.

Yes it is. Follow instructions you find there concerning the reinstall process.

This is probably OK, as 'properties' shows you both the actual size of the file and the size file takes on disk. If you haven't had malware lately, don't worry.

If that's absolutely positive it found so many errors <- this is the problem then. Do the memtest thoroughly OVERNIGHT, and if detects errors again replace the stick(-s). Software/drivers won't help if the RAM is faulty.

    Thanks Cybercore.

I had to run to work, so I started a fresh memtest that I will allow to run for 8 hours.

I did notice, that my memory wasn't on ASUS QVL for my motherboard. Rather than being faulty memory in itself; could it be possibly that it is the incompatibility with the motherboard + RAM? Either way, I will get myself new RAM, and this time I will use the QVL list.

    Thanks for all the help.

Check its settings in bios, ensure they are as recommended by the manufacturer.

    Good.

Of course you can try bios upgrade, it won't hurt you, but I can't at all guarantee it'll help, most likely not. Just run the memtest for now.

I will allow the memory to run until 8pm tonight, which would be 8 hours.

I have requested an RMA for the memory, and placed an order for memory taken from the ASUS Qualified Vendor List for my motherboard. I also ordered Windows 7 Professional so that I can utilize the 24Gb of RAM.

The Motherboard came with the latest BIOS, so I will wait and try the new memory when it comes.

Thanks again, for the speedy response and all the help you have been.
