Hello Everyone,

Greetings!

I'm quite new with troubleshooting BSOD and would like to ask for assistance regarding the BSOD I encountered with my new laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad E460).

For your reference, I've attached the dump file and as well as the extracted Window Debug text file.

I would like to know the probable cause and fix.Thank you in advance!

Hi,
it looks like Norton is the root cause of your issue:

SYMEFA64.SYS Thu Feb 27 23:32:07 2014: Norton Symantec Extended File Attributes.

Norton is known to cause issues from time to time and we usually ask users to remove this security app as a matter of course. Once we have cleaned the system you could always try installing it again (an up to date version).

Please remove Norton using the tool provided on this page:
Download and run Norton Removal Tool

In it's place try running MSE as it's ultra stable:
Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Center

Look for command prompt in the All Programs area of the start menu, right click on it, choose properties and then run as administrator. Type:
sfc /scannow
Press enter and await results.

See if the bsod's continue, if they do please post the dump files.

The Norton Antivirus was pre-installed in the computer. I've removed it and installed the Symantec Endpoint Protection.

I've performed System File checker (sfc /scannow) and didn't find any integrity violations.

I'll try to remove first the SEP then run the Norton Removal Tool (I assume there might be remnants of the Norton) then install again the SEP.

Will try to monitor the status of laptop. Thanks for the help!
