My mother's laptop has been gradually crashing more and more with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTIONs since Windows 10 pushed an upgrade back in October. I published a thread back then to seek support with some other issues the upgrade was causing, but at that time I was unaware of the BSOD errors. My sister has been experiencing something very similar with her own Windows 7 laptop. Anyway, I tried updating the display driver (because I read something on the internet that said to do so), but this only caused the computer to crash with some kind of kernel error. It has been crashing much more often since then, with a variety of errors, not limited to but including DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, REGISTRY_FILTER_DRIVER_EXCEPTION, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, FAT_FILE_SYSTEM, APC_INDEX_MISMATCH, et al.

I am a simple Java developer. I cannot read (let alone understand) Windows dump and debug files. I compiled a zip archive of the all the dump files from my mother's laptop. Hopefully these will be sufficient data to identify the problem.

thanks for the feedback.
I went through the dump files but only so many would open.
I saw different probable causes ranging from network, conextant audio (flow.exe) and Intel processor driver (part of windows).
I tried to find your system support page and think it's this one:

I could only find drivers for Windows 7 so could you let us know if that is the correct laptop linked above?

Chkdsk found one or two things, try running it again just to make sure all is ok.

I'm new here so I've taken a look at the three dumps from 2 years ago[!] and the one thing they all have in common is unexpected page faults. Two have 0xc0000005 exception codes - that's a memory access violation, and the third is a page fault in a non-pageable area. To me, they all point to RAM, but I see you've replaced the RAM. Is that with new RAM? Are you absolutely sure it's compatible RAM??

How are you installing windows?

If it's by USB then try using a different usb stick or recreate the install usb again. (The error code may be refering to the actual usb which basically is memory)

That pesty 0xc0000005 error keeps coming up during windows installation as well. Yes, I did replace the RAM with brand new sticks. I believe they are compatible. The laptop takes DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz Non-ECC SODIMM, and these are the new sticks I purchased:

Could the RAM slots themselves be damaged? I tried using only one stick, and I tried using both DIMM slots to see if a particular one was failing. If they are both failing, this approach doesn't really help me diagnose anything... Whatever the cause, I think you correct to believe it is related to the RAM. I am also getting the MEMORY_MANAGEMENT stop code when I am trying to install windows.

Yes, I was using a USB stick (which turned out to have problems) so I switched to a known good USB-C drive, which is working. I am still getting the 0xc0000005, however.

Where are you getting your copy of Windows from?

When during the install does it bsod?

I am just using the "Create Windows 10 Installation Media" tool from Microsoft's website: Link Removed

It typically gives me the 0xc0000005 error on the "Getting files ready for installation" step. The BSOD has only happened a few times, but I believe it happened during that step as well.

I tried an installation this morning when I was testing the different DIMM slots, and it actually completed the "Finishing up" step, but I got a BSOD (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP) after it restarted, again hinting at a memory issue.

This is very interesting. This laptop is refurbished. I wonder if they used the wrong memory modules. It was refurbished by an HP certified servicer, however... I will see if Amazon will let me return these modules and I will try the ones you linked.
