Hi,

I have a pc with windows 10, I work on it and do the regular things, except gaming.
In the basement I have an very old pc with windows xp, I haven't used it in many years, but to day I find out it is faster then the windows 10 -pc, with newer hardware.
Can I install windows xp on the newe pc, to speed things up. How is this possible?

Specs new pc:

Intel i3 4600
8 Gig ram ddr4
1TB SATA Harddisk

Old pc
Atlon XP
2 gig memory
200 gig harddisk

TIA

Solution
To your original question, no you can't. XP doesn't support most of the newer hardware including SATA drives, I don't think it supports any of the i Series Intel CPUs GPUs, NICs. Plus XP is not supported by most newer software.

Upgrade the i3 to an i5 and it would be a lot faster. Other factors would be what all is running, is it infected etc.

Plus to put into comparison

WIndows XP
  • Pentium 233-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster (300 MHz is recommended)
  • At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
  • At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk.
Windows 10
  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC.
  • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit.
  • Hard disk...

  • Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS

This should work on the same motherboard and would at least double your CPU speed
