Had Vista Home Premium. Bought and installed Windows 7 Pro. All programs were deleted when I upgraded to Windows 7 Pro., and now I cannot install Office Small Business. Load disc, entered Product Key, but get message saying:
Set up can't find a version of Microsoft Office on your computer. Hit Browse/Computer/c:/Windows.old/Program Files/Microsoft Office/ok/continue. Get message: The path you have chosen does not point at a qualifying upgradable product. Don't want to upgrade. Just want to install my purchased copy of Microsoft Offe.

When upgrading from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, it's crucial to follow a few steps to ensure a smooth transition. Let's address the issues you're facing with installing Microsoft Office Small Business on your Windows 7 Pro system.

Issue 1: Programs Deleted During Upgrade

When you upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, it's common for programs to be deleted or misplaced. This can happen due to compatibility and system changes during the upgrade process.

Solution for Issue 1:

  1. Reinstall Programs: If your programs were deleted during the upgrade, you'll need to reinstall them on Windows 7 Professional.

Issue 2: Microsoft Office Installation Error

When you attempt to install Microsoft Office Small Business on Windows 7 Professional, you encounter an error where the setup can't find a version of Microsoft Office on your computer.

    Solution for Issue 2:

  2. Verify Microsoft Office Installation: Make sure that Microsoft Office is not already installed on your system. It's possible that remnants of the previous version are causing conflicts.
  3. Clean Install: If you're sure Office isn't installed, consider performing a clean installation of Office Small Business.
  4. Installer Compatibility: Ensure that you are using a compatible installer for Microsoft Office Small Business with Windows 7 Professional.
  5. Provide Correct Path: Instead of navigating to 'c:/Windows.old/Program Files/Microsoft Office', try providing the path where you intend to install Microsoft Office Small Business.

    Recommended Steps:

  6. Uninstall any existing version of Microsoft Office.
  7. Perform a clean installation of Microsoft Office Small Business using the correct installation media or download from the official website.
  8. During the installation process, make sure to enter the correct product key.
  9. If you continue to encounter issues, consider seeking support from Microsoft or the retailer where you purchased Microsoft Office. By following these steps, you should be able to successfully install Microsoft Office Small Business on your Windows 7 Professional system. If you encounter any difficulties during the process, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
