Through Google I have checked everything in my computer and my connectivity.
I used to perform a clean install until windows 11 with the media creation tool.
When I insert the media creation tool now it says different negative things like it is MBR which I have already converted to GPT + I couldn't connect.
After weeks of conversing with Asus In micro center I am stumped.
I have ordered a cube with three outlets and instead of going through my current surge suppressor I'm going to try to plug the computer directly into the new one.
Can you help me to get Windows 11 cleanly installed without these failures?
When I boot I get a no signal then signal. I have tried different ports and cables. My current cable is VESA certified. I have tried HDMI to no avail and am using Display port-I tried different ports and they appear ok. The screen shows display port. There appears to be a connectivity issue but I am no expert

Solution
Yes—I can help, but we need to separate two different problems that often get mixed together:
  • Windows setup says “MBR” / won’t install (almost always a boot-mode vs disk partition style mismatch, or the disk wasn’t actually converted the way Windows Setup needs), and
  • “No signal → signal” on boot (often normal during POST/resolution changes, but it can also indicate BIOS/GPU/monitor handshaking issues—especially over DisplayPort).
Below is a clean, reliable “known-good” install method that bypasses the usual traps.

A. The most reliable way to do a true clean Windows 11 install (UEFI + GPT)

1) Physically simplify the machine (important)

You’re welcome, Peterr.
If you decide to try the Windows 11 clean install again later, the fastest way to get it solved is to post one photo of the exact Windows Setup error screen (the one that appears right when it fails). That single detail usually determines the correct fix immediately.
Whenever you’re ready, just reply here and I’ll walk you through it step-by-step.

That’s completely fine — Windows 10 is still a very comfortable choice if you prefer its layout and workflow.
If your goal is a cleaner desktop on Windows 10, here’s the easiest setup:

Simple clean desktop setup for Windows 10

1) Hide most shortcuts

Move desktop items into a few folders:
  • Work
  • Personal
  • Apps
  • Temp
That keeps the desktop usable without looking crowded.

2) Pin your main apps

Instead of keeping app shortcuts on the desktop:
  • Right-click the app
  • Choose Pin to Start
  • Choose Pin to taskbar
This is the best trick for a cleaner Windows 10 desktop.

3) Use the desktop only for temporary files

Try treating the desktop like a workspace, not storage:
  • keep current files there briefly
  • move them later into Documents, Downloads, or another folder

4) If you want it extra clean

Right-click the desktop → View → uncheck Show desktop icons
That hides everything without deleting anything.

5) Tidy the taskbar too

In Windows 10:
  • Right-click taskbar → Taskbar settings
  • Turn off icons/features you don’t use
  • Enable Use small taskbar buttons if you want a neater look

If you want Windows 10 to look really nice

A good combination is:
  • simple wallpaper
  • few desktop icons
  • pinned apps only
  • taskbar cleaned up
If you want, I can give you:
  1. a minimal Windows 10 desktop setup,
  2. a productive Windows 10 layout, or
  3. step-by-step help to make your current desktop cleaner.

Fo the benefits of othes I am updating this thead.

When I clicked F5 I did not know I was setting the BIOS to default which enabled VMD contolleR in the advanced .tab.
As soon as I disabled it the clean install woked. The BIOS is Asus Z790-v.
My R key is not woking and hope some one can help me.

Thanks for updating the thread, Peterr — that is useful information for others with an ASUS Z790-V.

Clean install fix confirmed

Your finding makes sense:
  1. Pressing F5 in ASUS BIOS loads Optimized Defaults.
  2. On your board, that re-enabled VMD Controller.
  3. With VMD enabled, the SSD was being presented through Intel RST/VMD/RAID mode.
  4. Once you disabled VMD Controller, Windows 11 Setup could see and use the drive normally.
  5. The clean install then worked.
So for others with the same issue:
ASUS Z790-V clean install tip:
  1. Enter BIOS.
  2. Go to Advanced.
  3. Open the VMD Setup Menu.
  4. Set VMD Controller = Disabled.
  5. Save with F10.
  6. Boot the Windows USB in UEFI mode.
  7. Install Windows to unallocated space.
Important: If Windows is already installed with VMD enabled, disabling VMD afterward can stop Windows from booting. For a clean install, disabling VMD before installing is usually fine.

About your R key not working

Let’s narrow down whether this is a keyboard, browser, or Windows/input issue.

Step 1: Test the key outside the forum

  1. Open Notepad.
  2. Type several r and R characters.
  3. Hold Shift and press R.
  4. Try both left and right Shift keys.
Expected result: if r works in Notepad, the keyboard itself is probably okay.

Step 2: Try another browser

  1. If you use Chrome, try Edge.
  2. If you use Edge, try Firefox or Chrome.
  3. Log into the forum and test the R key again.
If it works in another browser, the issue is likely the browser cache, extension, or forum editor behavior.

Step 3: Test private/incognito mode

  1. Open a private/incognito window.
  2. Log into WindowsForum.
  3. Try typing the R key.
If it works there, an extension may be interfering. Common culprits include grammar tools, password managers, keyboard shortcut tools, or browser add-ons.

Step 4: Check keyboard layout

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open Time & language.
  3. Open Language & region.
  4. Check your keyboard layout.
  5. Make sure it is set to the layout you normally use, such as US QWERTY.

Step 5: Try another keyboard if possible

If the R key fails in Notepad, Word, BIOS, and browsers, try a different keyboard.
If a different keyboard works, the original keyboard likely has a failing R key switch.
Glad the clean install finally worked — and your update about F5 re-enabling VMD may help the next person with the same ASUS Z790-V install problem.
