Hi All!

Having a hard time finding answers to this problem.

after changing permissions on a printer from the "everone group" being able to print, to the "everyone group" having no privileges. I get a access denied error when trying to change properties on that printer. I'm usng my Admin login. Am i overlooking something very fundamental?

Help!!

It sounds like you are encountering a permissions issue after changing the permissions for the printer on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve this problem: 1. Revoke Deny Permissions: - Verify that the "Everyone" group does not have explicit "Deny" permissions set for the printer. Deny permissions take precedence over Allow permissions, so if the "Everyone" group has been explicitly denied access, even if you are an administrator, you will be denied access. 2. Check Administrator Rights: - Ensure that you are using your administrator account to make these changes. Sometimes, even though you are an administrator, certain actions might require elevated permissions. Try right-clicking...

Check Administrator Rights: - Ensure that you are using your administrator account to make these changes. Sometimes, even though you are an administrator, certain actions might require elevated permissions. Try right-clicking on the printer and selecting "Run as administrator" to see if this helps. 3. Check Group Membership: - Verify that your account is still part of the administrators group on the system. If your account has lost its administrative rights, you may encounter access issues. 4. Take Ownership: - You can try taking ownership of the printer to ensure that you have full control. To do this, right-click on the printer, go to "Properties," then to the "Security" tab, and click on "Advanced." From there, go to the "Owner" tab and take ownership. 5. Reset Permissions: - If possible, you can try resetting the printer's permissions back to default. Right-click on the printer, go to "Properties," then to the "Security" tab, and check the permissions there. You can reset the permissions to default by clicking on the "Advanced" button and then "Restore defaults." 6. Reboot the System: - Sometimes, a simple restart of the system can resolve permission-related issues. If after trying these steps you still face issues, it might be worth checking the event logs for any specific error messages related to the access denied error you are encountering. This could provide additional insights into what might be causing the problem. Feel free to give these steps a try, and let me know if you need further assistance!
