Cant Instal O.S to HD Hi does anyone know how to solve this error.

windows/system32/winload.exe
status 0x00000e9
unexpected I/O error

I tried to install windows 7 on a older Asrock 775Dual-VSTA Board, however it keeps failing to instal. After i get past the part on which version i want to install it brings me to the section where i can choose to go to advance and create a new partion/delete/format etc. However when i try to create a new partition or click next to resume the installation i get this message.

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to the disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the Bios Menu"

I have looked through the bios settings and couldn't find anythign wrong with it. I even removed the cmos and retried installign with the same errors. I tried this with two different IDE drives and i know they both work because i am able to use these drives on my other system fine. One is 80GB other is 40GB.

In the bios setting, i have the ide settings all to auto

I also cannot go into the recovery option cause i don't have any o.s installed onto the drive.

I also tried two different windows 7 disk with no luck.

Any ideas on how to solve this? TIA.

It seems like you are encountering difficulties installing Windows 7 on an older Asrock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard, and you are receiving an error related to winload.exe and an unexpected I/O error. Additionally, you are facing issues creating partitions during the installation process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check BIOS Settings:
    • Verify that the disk controller is enabled in the BIOS settings.
    • Ensure that the IDE settings are correctly configured, especially if you are using IDE drives. You may try setting the IDE settings manually instead of "auto."
  2. Try Different SATA/IDE Ports:
    • Sometimes changing the ports where the drives are connected can resolve issues related to disk recognition during installation.
  3. Check Disk Health:
    • Confirm that the disk you are trying to install Windows on is healthy. You can use third-party tools like CrystalDiskInfo to check the SMART status of the drive.
  4. Reset BIOS Settings:
    • Reset BIOS settings to default and try the installation process again.
  5. Update BIOS:
    • Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your motherboard. Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
  6. Use a Different Installation Media:
    • If possible, try using a different installation media, such as a USB drive or different installation DVD.
  7. Partition and Format the Drive:
    • Before starting the Windows installation, you can use a third-party tool like GParted to partition and format the drive to NTFS. Then, try installing Windows on the pre-partitioned disk.
  8. Test with a Different Disk:
    • If you have access to another hard drive, try installing Windows on that drive to see if the issue persists.

      Additional Notes:

      • Since the error message suggests a hardware-related issue, ensuring that the disk is properly recognized and set up in the BIOS is crucial.
      • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be an underlying hardware compatibility problem with the motherboard and the Windows 7 installation process.
Try these steps and see if they help in resolving the installation issue. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
