Hi All,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop operating Realtek audio drivers.

I've recently downloaded all the driver updates across the board (and corrected that issue with not recognising or configuring microphones) but now all sound plays back fast.... real fast... its like I've been invaded by chipmunks!!! Any solution to slow playback back down to coherent levels?

Solution
It sounds like there might be an issue with the audio playback speed on your Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop after updating the drivers. This could be due to a configuration problem or a conflict with the new drivers. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Playback Speed Settings:
    • Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings."
    • Scroll down to the "Advanced sound options" section and check the output device settings.
    • Ensure that the sound format is set correctly (e.g., 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)). Incorrect settings can sometimes lead to unusual playback speeds.
    []Revert Audio Driver Update:

      • Go to Device Manager (Right-click Start, select Device Manager).
      • Locate the audio device under "Sound, video and game controllers."
      • Right-click on the audio device and choose "Properties."
      • Go to the "Driver" tab and select "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

    ]Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers:
    • If rolling back the driver doesn't help, try updating or reinstalling the audio drivers.
      • Visit the Toshiba support website and download the latest audio drivers compatible with your laptop model.
      • Install the new drivers and restart your laptop.
    []Check for Windows Updates:
    • Make sure your operating system is up to date by checking for Windows updates.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

    ]Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and resolve common audio issues.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.
    []Check for Audio Enhancements:
    • Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause playback issues. Disable any audio enhancements to see if it resolves the problem.
      • Right-click on the speaker icon > Open Sound settings > Sound Control Panel > Select your playback device > Properties > Enhancements tab.
    [
    ]Perform a System Restore:
    • If none of the above steps work, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point before the driver updates.
      • Search for "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar and follow the prompts. Try these steps sequentially to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with fast playback speed on your Toshiba laptop. If the issue persists, please provide more details for further assistance.
