I installed Windows 7 the other day and when I tried to play Action Quake 2 the game came up and you could see the menu but the colours were all fuzzy. I latter remembered I was using the software renderer and switched to the OpenGL renderer and everything was great. But I still have this problem on a couple other computers that cant run the OpenGL renderer.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have encountered a graphics issue while running Action Quake 2 on computers that cannot support the OpenGL renderer. The fuzzy colors you mentioned could be due to compatibility issues between the game and the software renderer on those systems. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Ensure that the graphics drivers on the computers with the issue are up to date. Outdated drivers can often cause graphical glitches and performance issues. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. 2. Compatibility Mode: - Try running Action Quake 2 in compatibility mode. Right-click on the game's executable, go to Properties, then the...

Outdated drivers can often cause graphical glitches and performance issues. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers. 2. Compatibility Mode: - Try running Action Quake 2 in compatibility mode. Right-click on the game's executable, go to Properties, then the Compatibility tab, and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an older Windows version. Apply the changes and try running the game again. 3. Graphics Settings within the Game: - Check if there are any in-game graphics settings that can be adjusted to enhance compatibility with the software renderer. Lowering graphics settings like resolution or disabling certain effects may help. 4. DirectX Installation: - Make sure that DirectX is properly installed on the computers facing issues. Action Quake 2 may rely on certain DirectX components for rendering. 5. Virtual Machine (VM): - Consider using a virtual machine on those computers with hardware limitations. A VM with proper graphics acceleration settings can sometimes improve the performance of games on older or less powerful hardware. 6. Compatibility Patches or Mods: - Look for any compatibility patches or mods available for Action Quake 2 that could address issues related to the software renderer on older systems. 7. Alternate Renderers: - Explore if there are other renderers available for Action Quake 2 that might work better with the hardware of the systems in question. Some third-party renderers may provide better compatibility. By trying these steps, you may be able to improve the gameplay experience for Action Quake 2 on the computers that cannot run the OpenGL renderer effectively. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details so we can further assist you in resolving the problem.
