I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 and my computer screen just
randomly turns black, my monitor says "out of range" and then "No
signal", and then it just restarts itself. This has happened 3 times
in the last 2 days and blue screen view says its due to Atikmpag.sys
dxgkrnl.sys, and dxgmms1.sys. What is wrong with my video card or
computer?

I have an ATI HD Radeon 4850, with catalyst drivers 12.1 not 12.2 or 12.3 because these are more stable.

I will attach mini dump files.

Solution
It seems like you are experiencing display issues with your ATI HD Radeon 4850 graphics card after reinstalling Windows 7. The error messages related to Atikmpag.sys, dxgkrnl.sys, and dxgmms1.sys are pointing towards a problem with your graphics card drivers or the graphics card itself. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue: 1. Update Graphics Drivers: - Since you mentioned that you are using Catalyst drivers version 12.1, updating to the latest compatible drivers may resolve the issue. You can download the latest drivers from the AMD website. 2. Driver Clean Installation: - Perform a clean installation of the graphics drivers. This involves uninstalling the current drivers completely and then...

You can download the latest drivers from the AMD website. 2. Driver Clean Installation: - Perform a clean installation of the graphics drivers. This involves uninstalling the current drivers completely and then installing the new drivers. 3. Check for Overheating: - Ensure that your graphics card is not overheating. Overheating can cause such issues. Make sure the fans are working properly and the card is not clogged with dust. 4. Check for Hardware Issues: - Test your graphics card in another computer if possible to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the card itself. 5. Use System File Checker: - Run the System File Checker tool to scan for and repair corrupted system files that may be causing the issue. - Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. 6. Check Power Supply: - Ensure that your power supply is providing enough power to the graphics card. A failing power supply can also cause these types of issues. 7. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows 7 installation is up to date with the latest updates and patches. After trying these steps, if the issue persists, it might be necessary to consider replacing the graphics card or seeking professional assistance to diagnose the problem accurately. Once you upload the mini dump files, I can further analyze them to provide more specific guidance based on the error codes and logs present in those files. Please go ahead and attach the mini dump files for further analysis.
