Hi,
I've upgraded my vista home premium pc to Windows 7 ultimate. I had no problem in the upgrade process. However, I later found lout that my programs can't communicate to Internet altough my computer is connected to the Internet. A particular program like my Norton Internet Security can't make connection to the company server for update. Everytime I try to update virus definition files the program can't detect an Internet connection. Not just norton. Word, Firefox, IE, and others also can't detect an internet connection.
The only program that can connect to Internet is IE 64 bit.

Does anybody know what's the problem and how to solve

Network Adapter Settings: - Check your network adapter settings to ensure they are configured correctly. Make sure that the network adapter is enabled and set up to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP). - You can check these settings by going to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. 2. Firewall and Antivirus Programs: - It's possible that your firewall or antivirus software is blocking the connections. Try temporarily disabling the firewall or antivirus software and check if the programs can connect to the internet. - If disabling the firewall or antivirus software resolves the issue, you may need to adjust the settings to allow these programs to access the internet. 3. Proxy Settings: - Check the proxy settings in the programs that are having trouble connecting to the internet. Incorrect proxy settings can prevent proper internet connectivity. - For Norton Internet Security, you can check the proxy settings within the program itself. 4. Network Troubleshooter: - Use the built-in network troubleshooter in Windows 7 to diagnose and repair network connection issues. This tool can help identify and fix common network problems. 5. Flush DNS Cache: - Sometimes, DNS cache issues can cause connectivity problems. You can try flushing the DNS cache by opening a command prompt with administrator privileges and typing the command: ipconfig /flushdns. 6. Update Network Drivers: - Ensure that your network adapter drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible network drivers can cause network connectivity issues. - You can update your network adapter drivers from the Device Manager. 7. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows 7 installation is up to date by checking for and installing any available Windows updates. Updates often include fixes for various system issues, including network problems. If after trying these steps you are still facing connectivity issues, please provide more details about your network setup (router, modem, network configuration) so that further assistance can be provided.
