I have windows 7 ultimate (64-bit) Build 7100, and I have installed XPmode and Virtual PC and everything works great. There are a couple of applications I have to use in XPmode, but for the most part I have no problem connecting a disconnecting devices to my XP Mode VM using the little VM bar that hides at the top of the VM window.

However, today I tried to install a ZP 450 Label printer in Windows 7. I didn't expect it to work in windows 7, but I gave it shot. After hooking up the printer, Windows 7 recognized a device had been plugged in but it did not have a driver. When I opened "Printers and Devices" it shows the printer as an unrecognized device. I searched good and it seems there are no drivers for this printer for windows 7.

Then I went over to my XPMode Virtual Machine and clicked the "USB" drop down like I always do to attach flash drives/printers etc., but the Printer wasn't listed as a device to connect to the XPMode machine.

Is there a way to mount USB devices that are unrecognized in Windows 7 to the XPMode Virtual Machine?

To address the issue of connecting unrecognized USB devices in Windows 7 to the XPMode Virtual Machine, you can follow these steps to potentially resolve the problem: 1. Prepare the Host Machine (Windows 7) - Make sure that the ZP 450 Label printer is connected to the host machine (Windows 7) before starting XPMode. This ensures that the device is recognized by the host. 2. Adding the USB Device to XPMode: - If the device is unrecognized in Windows 7, it might still be available in XPMode. To add the USB device to XPMode, follow these steps: - Start the XPMode virtual machine. - From the XPMode window, go to the USB menu at the top of the window. - Check if the ZP 450 Label printer is available in the list of devices. If it's not listed, proceed with the following steps. 3. Mapping USB Devices Manually to XPMode: - If the USB printer is not automatically recognized in XPMode, you can attempt to manually map it to the virtual machine. Here's how to do it: - Close XPMode without shutting it down completely. - Right-click on the Windows XP Mode icon in the Start Menu and select "Settings." - In the XP Mode Settings window, go to the "USB" tab. - Check the box that says "Show all USB devices." - Click on the ZP 450 Label printer (if it's listed) to manually attach it to the virtual machine. - Start XPMode again and check if the device is now accessible within the virtual environment. 4. Install Device Drivers in XPMode: - Even if there are no official drivers for the ZP 450 Label printer in Windows 7, you can try to install the printer drivers within the XPMode Virtual Machine. This might allow the printer to work within XPMode, even if it's unrecognized in Windows 7. 5. Alternative Solutions: - If the above steps do not work, you can explore using third-party virtualization software like VirtualBox or VMware Workstation, which may provide better USB device support. - Another option is to check the manufacturer's website or online forums to see if there are any unofficial drivers or workarounds available for using the ZP 450 Label printer in Windows 7 or XPMode. By following these steps, you should be able to potentially connect and use the ZP 450 Label printer within the XPMode Virtual Machine, even if it's unrecognized in Windows 7.
