I"ve preordered windows 7 so preparing installation again of media center on my dell laptop.

There's a button on the left that boots only media center. On the right the OS. When I set up the bios I know to prepare XGB for media center and XGB for Windows 7. Question: Will the media center disk (came on xp system) work correctly if installed first and then install windows 7?

More simply: How do install the media center disk so I can boot without booting the operating system?:confused::confused::confused:

To install Windows 7 Media Center on your Dell laptop and set up a dual-boot configuration with Windows 7, you'll need to follow these steps: 1. Preparing for Installation: - Before starting the installation process, ensure you have the Windows 7 installation media and also the Windows Media Center disk that came with your XP system. - Make sure you have separate partitions or disk space allocated for each operating system (XGB for Media Center and XGB for Windows 7) to avoid any conflicts during the installation process. 2. Installation Sequence: - In your case, you want to install the Media Center disk first and then Windows 7. - Boot your laptop from the Media Center disk. Installation Sequence: - In your case, you want to install the Media Center disk first and then Windows 7. - Boot your laptop from the Media Center disk. You might need to change the boot order in the BIOS to prioritize booting from the disk drive where you have inserted the Media Center disk. - Follow the on-screen instructions to install the Windows Media Center. 3. Dual-Boot Configuration: - After successfully installing the Media Center, you can proceed with installing Windows 7. - Boot from the Windows 7 installation media and follow the installation process. - During the installation, you will be prompted to choose the partition where you want to install Windows 7. Make sure to select the XGB partition allocated for Windows 7. 4. Selecting the Operating System to Boot: - After completing the installation of both operating systems, you can set up the boot options using the boot menu. - Typically, you can access the boot menu by pressing a specific key (like F12 or ESC) during startup. - From the boot menu, you should see options to boot into Windows Media Center or Windows 7. Select the desired operating system to boot into. By following these steps, you should be able to set up a dual-boot configuration with Windows Media Center and Windows 7 on your Dell laptop. Remember to back up your important data before proceeding with the installation to prevent any data loss.
