Windows 10 Diagnosing why my PC restarted on its own

Hi there. I was trying to figure out why my PC woke woke up from sleep and/or restarted. i ran the 'systeminfo' command and saw that the system boot time happened last night so it must have happened without my intervention. i then checked the event viewer and saw that a 'servicing' event happened at the same time, details: 'Package KB5012599 was successfully changed to the Installed state.'
What is this service? Was this a windows update? If so why did it restart my PC without asking me? I had programs open which I didnt want it to close.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

yes Windows doesn't need your permission to do updates and can take control of your system when they want to make changes

I see...thanks for the reply. Is there any way to stop this? I like to be able to keep my work documents open etc and dont like the idea of windows shutting them of its own accord...
