Hi, I have Windows 7 OS and the display gets blacked out after 10 -15 mins of start up. I hear Hard disk sound by which I assume that processor is running in the background. I tried reinstalling OS but unfortunately my DVD reader is unable to detect Windows 7 OS CD, whereas it is able to detect and read other CDs in other formats. I am wondering why my reader is unable to detect Windows 7 CD. I don't see any problem with the CD as I have tried opening on another system. Could someone help me with the black out issue and also let me know if I need to change my DVD reader or if there is a way to correct the issue.THanks, Satya

It seems like you're facing a couple of issues with your Windows 7 system. Let's address them step by step:

Display Blackout Issue

The display blacking out after 10-15 minutes of startup could be due to various reasons such as power settings, driver issues, or hardware problems. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:
  1. Power Settings:
    • Check your power settings to ensure that the display is not set to turn off after a specific period. You can adjust this in the Power Options settings.
    []Graphics Driver:
    • Update your graphics driver to the latest version. Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes cause display issues.

    ]Hardware Check:
    • Check the monitor, cables, and connections for any loose connections. Sometimes, a loose cable can cause the display to go black.
    []System Overheating:
    • Overheating can also result in the system shutting down or the display going black. Make sure your system is adequately ventilated and free from dust accumulation.

      DVD Reader Issue

Regarding your DVD reader not detecting the Windows 7 OS CD, while it reads other CDs, there could be a few reasons for this:
    [
    ]Compatibility:
    • Some DVD drives are more sensitive to certain types of discs. Ensure that the Windows 7 CD is clean and free from scratches.
    []Firmware Update:
    • Check if there is a firmware update available for your DVD drive. Sometimes updating the firmware can improve compatibility with different types of discs.
    [
    ]Lens Cleaning:
    • Try cleaning the lens of the DVD drive using a lens cleaning disc. Dust and dirt on the lens can prevent proper reading of discs.
  2. Alternative Installation Methods:
    • If the DVD drive issue persists, consider creating a bootable USB drive with the Windows 7 installation files and installing the OS from the USB drive. If the display issue persists despite these troubleshooting steps or if you continue to encounter problems with the DVD drive, it may be worth considering a professional diagnosis or replacement of the affected hardware components. Let me know if you need further assistance with any of these steps!
