Do we lose picture resolution when backing up the computer?

    I was asked recently if I was losing any resolution with my pictures when they were backed up by W7 (or any other version of windows). Since W7 uses zipped files for the backup, there is got to be a loss of resolution somewhere that cannot be brought back when de-zipping (restoring) the files. Right or wrong? Since I care A LOT about the resolution of my pictures, I wonder if it's not best to just copy my pictures folder to an external hard drive instead of going through the backup process...

    Hello and welcome to the Windows7 forums.

    I doubt that happens.

    There are many graphics programs that list the properties of the picture and various utilities to extract the Exif information from the graphic.

    One is JPEG Snoop
