I am running Vista, IE7, and Office 2007. I maintain a website where I am used to editing the pages by selecting "File-Edit With Microsoft Office Word" from the IE menu. Then I enter my password, edit the page and do "File - Save As Webpage". This worked fine on my XP machine with Office 2003. Now when I do that in Vista, it opens Word but never loads my page, prompts for my password, etc. So, basically, I can not edit my web pages on my Vista machine. I have been unable to find a work around, root cause, etc. Any ideas?

It seems like you are facing an issue with editing web pages using Microsoft Office Word on your Windows Vista machine. The process you described, which was working fine with Office 2003 on your XP machine, is encountering difficulties on Vista with Office 2007. Here are some suggestions that might help you resolve this problem: 1. Compatibility Mode: Try running Internet Explorer in compatibility mode. This can sometimes help with issues related to certain functions not working as expected on newer operating systems. 2. Update Office: Make sure that your Office 2007 installation is up to date. Microsoft regularly releases updates and patches that could potentially address compatibility issues with operating systems like Vista. 3. Reset Internet Explorer Settings: Resetting Internet Explorer settings to default can sometimes resolve unexpected browser behavior. You can do this by going to Internet Options > Advanced tab and clicking on "Reset..." 4. Use Different Editing Method: Instead of using the "Edit with Microsoft Office Word" option in IE, you can try editing the web pages directly within an HTML editor, such as Notepad++ or Visual Studio Code. 5. Virtual Machine: Consider setting up a virtual machine with Windows XP and Office 2003 specifically for editing your web pages if all else fails. This way, you can continue using the familiar workflow that was successful for you in the past. 6. Check Security Settings: Ensure that your security settings in IE and Word are not blocking the loading of the webpage or interfering with the editing process. Unfortunately, due to the age of the software versions you are using, there might not be a simple fix for this issue. It could be a compatibility issue between Vista, Office 2007, and Internet Explorer 7. Consider upgrading your software if possible to a more modern version that is better supported and compatible with Windows Vista. Give these suggestions a try and see if any of them help resolve the issue you are experiencing when trying to edit your web pages on your Vista machine.
