Hi all, newbie to the forum.

Just upgraded from vista to 7 and now have a very slow internet / loading pages. Have installed it twice now just in case of an install problem, was clean installs both times. Have done full scan with norton 2010 and spybot (all clean), cleaned with CCleaner and onecare, defragged and disc cleaned. When i was using vista was very quick, pages snapped up, now slow as an old thing. Any help would be much appreciated.

Am running 7 professional 32 bit with duel core 6000 3.00GHz with 4GB ram.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like you've taken several steps to address the slow internet and loading page issue after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Let's explore some additional troubleshooting steps that can help improve the performance of your internet speed and page loading times on Windows 7. Here are some recommendations to consider: 1. Update Network Drivers: - Make sure that your network drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause slow internet speeds. You can check the device manager for any driver issues and update them if needed. 2. Check Network Configuration: - Ensure that your network settings are optimized. You can try resetting your TCP/IP stack and renewing your IP address. - You can do this by opening a Command Prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
Code:
netsh int ip reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
3. Disable Unnecessary Programs at Startup: - Check your startup programs and disable any unnecessary programs that might be consuming resources, which could affect internet speed. 4. Browser Optimization: - Try using a different web browser to see if the issue persists. Clear browser cache, cookies, and temporary files. - Consider disabling browser extensions/plugins one by one to identify if any of them are causing the slowdown. 5. Check for Malware: - While Norton and Spybot scans were clean, consider using Windows Defender or another reputable anti-malware program to double-check for any hidden threats. 6. Windows Updates: - Ensure that Windows 7 is fully up to date with the latest updates. Microsoft sometimes releases important patches that can address performance issues. 7. Monitor Resource Usage: - Use Task Manager to monitor resource usage (CPU, memory, disk, network) to identify any processes consuming excessive resources. 8. Perform a Clean Boot: - Perform a clean boot to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help identify if a third-party program is causing the slowdown. 9. Check for Background Processes: - Check for any background processes that might be consuming bandwidth. You can use Task Manager to identify such processes. By following these steps, you might be able to pinpoint the cause of the slow internet and loading pages on your Windows 7 system and take appropriate action to improve the performance.
