Windows 7 Forced Log Off

A few minutes ago, while converting some avi files, a box opened up in the middle of my screen with the message "You are about to be logged off. Windows will close down in less than 5 minutes".

A minute or so later I was logged off and the conversion was ruined.

I've never seen a message like this before and wonder if anybody on these forums can tell me what caused it. I have Googled the message but did not see anything relevant.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and my laptop has started up again without any problem.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the windows7forums,

Do you have multiple accounts on your machine?

Did this occur immediately after install?

Is this an upgrade or a "clean" install?

If you have enough time, hit Alt + PrintScreen and paste in in paint and save it to the desktop.

No multiple accounts, just me as administrator.

I installed Windows 7 on 6th October.

Sounds like a shutdown message a system administrator would give. Maybe the children monitors or something are enforce.

Good idea Saltgrass.

It's like a Windows server where you can specify a time for a person or group and logoff the user.

Do you have children/ If so, dud you install some sort of blocking or parental Controls for limiting their access?
