Reference and download:These new display drivers will enhance the capabilities of the IvyBridge embedded graphics processors and deliver better performance. As you most likely already know, the Intel IvyBridge units are DirectX 11 capable and this alone represents a guarantee for the superior video quality the CPUs are able to deliver.
Multiple resolution-related problems have been fixed and now Windows will remember the resolution setup for each user account. Mismatches between the Intel HD Graphics control panel and Windows' one have also been taken care of.
Link Removed - Invalid URL, bringing Windows Media Center and MPEG2 files fixes for 2nd generation Core processors. The new driver also eliminates the overlapping problems which used to occur in 3-display configurations when changing from Clone to Extend Desktop with Intel [ Graphics 4000/2500.
Flickering, crashes and other corruption elements in gaming titles such as Duke Nukem Forever, Black Ops, The Darkness II, Battlefield 3 and many more have also been mended. Feel free to access the afore-mentioned highlighted links and enjoy better performance with your 2nd and 3rd Intel Core (yes, the second SandyBridge generation is also supported).

With the release of the AMD Catalyst™ 12.6 Beta driver (“Catalyst”), AMD would also like to announce that we are moving away from our Monthly Catalyst release plan. Our goal is to ensure that every Catalyst release delivers a substantial benefit to our end users; as we have today with the release of the Catalyst 12.6a Beta. We will still continue with the Catalyst naming convention; Catalyst: Year.Month. You just won’t see a new driver every single month. We are confident that this will only benefit the end user; you’ll only need to upgrade to a new Catalyst driver, when it makes sense. We would also like to announce the introduction of our new AMD Issue Reporting Form. We made a number of improvements to the older Catalyst Crew Feedback form, making it more comprehensive, ensuring high quality feedback. Feedback is very important in every product company’s life, especially in our fast paced environment. This is not just a check-box for us – we take these reports very seriously. We will review every report posted here and investigate every issue encountered. Please use this form whenever you encounter something worth mentioning. GPU-169
This article provides information on the latest posting of AMD’s software suite, AMD Catalyst™12.6. This particular software suite updates the AMD display driver and the AMD Catalyst Control Center/AMD Vision Engine Control Center. This unified driver has been updated and is designed to provide enhanced level of power, performance, and reliability. Package Content
The AMD Catalyst software suite 12.6 contains the following:
Caution!
- AMD display driver version 8.98
- HydraVision™ for Windows Vista[SUP]®[/SUP] and Windows[SUP]®[/SUP] 7
- Southbridge/IXP Driver
- AMD Catalyst Control Center version 8.98/AMD Vision Engine Control Center version 8.98.
Notes.
- The AMD Catalyst Control Center/AMD Vision Engine Control Center requires that the Microsoft® .NET Framework SP1 be installed for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Without .NET SP1 installed, the AMD Catalyst Control Center/AMD Vision Engine Control Center will not launch properly and the user will see an error message.
AMD Product Compatibility
- When installing the AMD Catalyst driver for Windows operating system, the user must be logged on as Administrator or have Administrator rights to complete the installation of the AMD Catalyst driver.
- The Catalyst driver requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be installed.
- These release notes provide information on the AMD display driver only. For information on the ATI Multimedia Center™, HydraVision, HydraVision Basic Edition, Remote Wonder™, or the Southbridge/IXP driver, please refer to their respective release notes found at: Link Removed - Invalid URLm/.
- AMD Eyefinity technology is designed to give gamers access to high display resolutions. As pixel count grows, the graphics “horsepower” required to drive the displays at a reasonable frame rate can increase dramatically. Depending on the game and system configuration, users may notice texture corruption and reduced frame rates when running games in multi-monitor Eyefinity modes.
- Windows Driver Model (WDM) drivers are no longer bundled in the AMD Catalyst software suite. The WDM drivers install bundle can be downloaded independently through the AMD website.
