UPDATE:

I just tested a game and indeed the clocks were incorrect on the gpu. I'll be installing a later driver asap!
Hopefully a hotfix or a decent driver will be released soon.

Well I guess that explains it, at least it doesn't take forever to install them any more.
I remember when I used to dread new drives because it was such a hassle to install them.
