Windows 7 Halo 2 installing issues resolved!

there is a number of problems with installing halo2 for online gameplay.
If you just want to play the game without multiplayer then you do not need to read this.

first step is to download and install games for windows - live and redistributable 2.0
then find a downloadable update for halo2 1.0 revisited. will be around 3 mg for this patch.
then install halo 2. do not run!!!.
install games for windows - live and redistributable 2.0
install the halo 2 patch.
then enjoy halo 2.

Thanks for the info, I haven't quite had to do all that to play online, my issues were purely graphic.

But I think that will help a lot of other people if they have any issues.
