I just replaced the hard drive in my laptop using the system image technique.
I recently did this on my desktop and was able to extend my c drive with the left over partition.
I have my extra space on drive E and want to extend it to C. Why can't I do this? How can I do this?

Difficult to see all because of the popup menu overlaying your image but it looks like maybe a recovery partition there which you need to preserve. You don't have to delete partitions to manage them - you can use packages like Easeus Partition Manager free from here:

EASEUS FREE Partition Manager Software: Free Partition Magic alternative for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Server 2000/2003/2008 Hard Drive partitions.

With that you can move/extend/shrink/delete/create partitions as you wish.

Do make sure you BACK UP any important data before making partition changes.

Also, ensure that drive E has no system files (e.g. virtual memory paging file) nor files which may be currently used by a software.
