Windows 7 How do I configure my Hp to scan to any of the computers on ny home network?

My question is how do I configure the printer through the router so that the other computers can use the printer's scanning capabilities.

I have 6 wireless computers on a home network. My wireless router has an input to accommodate a printer.

Currently the printer is connected to computer 1 via USB and all the computers can print from the printer as long as computer #1 is turned on.

My question is how do I configure the printer through the router so that the other computers can use the printer without #1 computer being turned on?

It may not be possible. Not all printers/drivers let you do that.

I can print on a printer attached to my wife's PC but I cannot scan from it. Canon told me that only a few models allow that, but not mine.
