Hello,

I am running Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit.

I have both a hardwired LAN (Ethernet) and a wireless card in the computer. Both of these can connect to the internet.

When I turn on the computer (or restart) it always reverts to the wireless connection for some reason. How do I set this up so that it always connects with the hardwired ethernet connection?

Thanks,

Nevica

Hello Nevica, To prioritize your Ethernet connection over the wireless connection in Windows 7, you can adjust the network adapter settings. Here's how you can set up your computer to prioritize the Ethernet connection: 1. Open Network and Sharing Center: - Click on the network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen). - Select "Open Network and Sharing Center." 2. Change Adapter Settings: - In the Network and Sharing Center, click on "Change adapter settings" (usually located on the left sidebar). 3. Set Priority: - Press the 'Alt' key to reveal the top menu, then click on "Advanced" and choose "Advanced Settings." - In the "Advanced Settings" window, you will see a list of network connections. -...

Disable Automatic Wireless Connections: - To prevent Windows from automatically connecting to wireless networks, you can disable the automatic connection feature for your wireless network: - Right-click on the wireless icon in the system tray. - Select "Open Network and Sharing Center." - Click on "Change adapter settings." - Right-click on your wireless adapter and choose "Properties." - Uncheck the box that says "Connect automatically when this network is in range." By following these steps, you can ensure that your computer prioritizes the Ethernet connection over the wireless connection when both are available. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
