Windows 7 How to read unsupported MS-word files

Hello, Recently Ms-word is not supporting old saved documents, I got continiously error of unsupported format, I tried to convert the file format to .docx but it's not working, can any one suggest me what should have to do?

Sounds weird. New MS Office / Windows OS should read old documents. You may, of course, also try OpenOffice, Apache OpenOffice - The Free and Open Productivity Suite

Might be useful to know which version of Word the docs were created on and which version you are trying to read them on.
