How do I make Windows show the file extensions? Like .exe or .jpg

Solution
Click the Start button > in the search box, type folder options > press Enter key > at the top, click View > make sure the box in front of " Hide extensions for known file types" is NOT checked > if it is checked, UN-check it > click OK when done.

An image from 'How to show file extensions?'. Windows Folder Options dialog showing the View tab with 'Hide extensions for known file types' unchecked.
