When I boot the pc (or get out of sleep mode) I want to see the login screen, like on win 7. I don;t want to see that multicolourfull lollipop screen which you need to click again to get to the login screen.

How to skip the splashscreen on boot?

go to Charm bar > select Start > type gpedit.msc > click gpedit.msc > left panel.....
expand (click the pointer in front of ) Computer configuration
expand Administrative Templates
expand Control Panel
click at Personalization
right panel > double click Do not display the lock screen
at the popup box, click Enable > click OK
exit local group policy editor window.
That's it.

Try it.... press Win logo key + L

go to Charm bar > select Start
that takes me to the start screen with all the tiles.

I did a search for gpedit.msc with no results. and tried to run it in the commands, but it said it could not find it.

Yes, that is what you need to do..... go to Start page.
Ignore all those "tiles".
Have some faith and take my words for it......
Type gpedit.msc ( you don't need to find the search box. Just type.), and follow the rest of my instructions.

An image from 'How to skip the splashscreen on boot? (multicolourfull lollipop screen, yuk)'. A Windows search displays 'gpedit.msc' with the Group Policy Editor highlighted.

Carsten888 - Do you have Win 8 Pro or plain Win 8? I think the reason you don't find the group policy editor is because it is only included in Win 8 Pro.

If I remember correctly from your other posts, you have Win 8 Pro.
If not, use the following tutorial......
How to disable Lock Screen without using Group Policy.
http://www.howtogeek.com/134620/how...reen-on-windows-8-without-using-group-policy/

The tutorial consists of 2 methods.
One is to download the reg zip file.
One is to do it manually.
Take your pick.

I got a normal win 8. So I'm not seeing that editor.

@davidhk129
Thank you! That regedit worked.
Note that you need to be logged in as an administrator for that else just errors.

Thanks to all for helping me fix this.
