I am trying to create a homegroup with my Windows 7 desktop and my Windows 8.1 laptop. I am able to see the laptop shared files on my desktop but cannot see a map on my laptop for the desktop. I am using the same homegroup password for both and don't really know how to do this. Any help will be appreciated..

Creating a homegroup between a Windows 7 desktop and a Windows 8.1 laptop should allow for seamless file sharing between the two devices. If you are able to view the laptop's shared files on your desktop but cannot see the desktop on your laptop, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Homegroup Password:
    • Make sure that the Homegroup password is the same on both devices. It's essential for devices to have the same password to join the homegroup successfully.
    []Adjust Network Discovery Settings:
    • On your Windows 7 desktop:
      • Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings...
