I have searched this forum for solutions for days have tried everything under the sun that i could but have had non success. My computer will hook up to the mobile wifi function of my phone but will not connect to the public network in my area. Whenever I try to it get the invalid ip configuration message. My phone however will connect to the public network so i know that the network is functioning. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

It seems like you're facing connectivity issues with your computer when trying to connect to a public network in your area, specifically receiving the "Invalid IP Configuration" message. Since your phone can connect to the public network without any issues, this suggests that the network itself is functioning correctly. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the "Invalid IP Configuration" error on your computer:

Steps to Resolve "Invalid IP Configuration" Issue:

  1. Restart Your Computer and Router:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve network connectivity issues. Turn off your computer and router, wait for a minute, and then turn them back on.

    []Check Network Adapter Settings:
    • Make sure that your computer's network adapter settings are configured correctly. Here's how to check:
      • Right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select "Open Network & Internet settings."
      • Go to "Change adapter options," right-click on your active network connection, and choose "Properties."
      • Ensure that both IPv4 and IPv6 are set to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically.
    [
    ]Release and Renew IP Configuration:
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator. Type the following commands and press Enter after each:
      Code:
       ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
    []Reset TCP/IP Stack:
    • In Command Prompt with admin rights, run the following commands:
      Code:
netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset
    [
    ]Update Network Adapter Drivers:
    • Outdated or corrupted network adapter drivers can cause connectivity issues. Update your network adapter drivers to the latest version. You can do this through Device Manager.
    []Run Network Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has built-in network troubleshooters that can diagnose and fix common network problems.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Internet Connections.
    [
    ]Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
    • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the network connection. Temporarily disable them and try connecting again.
    []Check for Software Conflicts:
    • Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with network connections. Disable any VPNs, proxy servers, or similar software temporarily.
    [
    ]Check for Network Profile:
    • Ensure that the network you are trying to connect to is set as a "Private" network. This setting can be found in Network settings.

      Additional Suggestions:

      • Make sure your computer is within range of the public network and there are no physical obstructions.
      • Try connecting to other public networks to see if the issue persists.
      • Consider resetting your network settings to default.
Try these steps and see if they help resolve the connectivity issue. If the problem persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance.
