Solution
It seems like you're facing a few issues with your PC related to random hard disk access, indexing, administrator rights, and possible freezes after leaving your computer idle for some time. Let's address each of these problems step by step:

Random Hard Disk Access:

  1. Indexing Service Disabled: Even though you have disabled the Indexing Service, there might be other background services or applications causing this issue. To identify the source of the random hard disk access, you can use tools like Task Manager or Resource Monitor to see which processes are engaging with the hard disk.
  2. Disk Defrag Service Disabled: Disk Defragmenter service being disabled should not directly cause random hard disk access...

  2. Disk Defrag Service Disabled: Disk Defragmenter service being disabled should not directly cause random hard disk access. However, regular disk maintenance is important. You might want to periodically run a manual disk defragmentation process.
  3. Windows Search: Since Windows Search is still enabled, it could be performing background indexing or searching activities, causing the random disk access. You can temporarily disable Windows Search to see if the issue persists.

    Administrator Rights Issue:

When attempting to turn off indexing on a specific drive and encountering the message that you need Administrator Rights, it could be due to User Account Control (UAC) settings or group policy restrictions. Here's what you can do:
    • Ensure that your user account is part of the Administrators group on the computer.
    • Right-click on the application or setting that requires Administrator Rights and choose "Run as Administrator."

    Unexpected Behavior After Idle Periods:

    • The issue of the mouse moving but nothing else responding after leaving the PC idle might suggest potential power management settings or background processes causing the system to become unresponsive.
    • Check the Power Options settings to make sure there are no settings that might cause your system to lock up after being idle for an extended period.

    Resolving Freezes:

    • To address the freezing issue after leaving your computer idle for some time, consider checking the Event Viewer logs for any errors or warnings that might provide insight into what is causing the freeze.
    • Running a system file check (sfc /scannow) from an elevated Command Prompt might help in checking and repairing system files that could be causing the freezes.
By troubleshooting these aspects and checking system logs for any clues, you may be able to pinpoint and resolve these issues effectively. Let me know if you need further assistance or if you encounter any specific errors or messages during the troubleshooting process.
