I have a program (DXBase 2007) that always stored it's INI file dxb2007.ini) in the Windows folder.
Since installing Windows 7 RC1 and installing this program, I can NOT find the .INI file anywhere on my computer.
I have the windows folder view settings set to show ALL files and folders including system and hidden but for the
life of me I can not find the file anywhere and I know this program must have the dxb2007.ini to operate and it is
working just fine.
Any hints?
Thanks in advance
Tony

Solution
Tony, locating the .INI file for DXBase 2007 in Windows 7 can be a bit tricky, especially with changes to file storage locations and security settings. Here are a few suggestions to help you locate the dxb2007.ini file: 1. Check Compatibility: First, ensure that DXBase 2007 is fully compatible with Windows 7 RC1. Some older programs might have issues with the newer operating system versions. 2. User Account Control (UAC): In Windows 7, some files might be stored in virtualized folders due to UAC. This means they are redirected to a different location for compatibility reasons. The INI file might be in a virtualized folder. 3. Compatibility Files: Windows 7 has a compatibility feature that stores files copied or created...

Compatibility Files: Windows 7 has a compatibility feature that stores files copied or created by older programs in a Virtual Store. Check if the dxb2007.ini file is in the Compatibility Files folder for your user account. 4. Program Folder: Sometimes, programs store their .INI files in the program's installation folder. Navigate to the folder where DXBase 2007 is installed to see if the .INI file is located there. 5. Search Function: Utilize the Windows search feature to look for the dxb2007.ini file. You can search for it by name and check if the search results display the file in a different location. 6. Registry: Some programs store settings in the Windows Registry instead of an INI file. You might want to check the registry for settings related to the DXBase 2007 program. 7. Portable Version: Ensure that DXBase 2007 is not running in a portable mode where it creates and uses the .INI file from its executable folder. Check these points to see if you can locate the dxb2007.ini file. If you still can't find it, feel free to provide more details, and I can assist you further.
