Hello everyone.
I have had this problem ever since I upgraded to Windows 7. (Which was about 7-8 months ago.)
Anyway.. My Internet (Wifi) turns off (or just crashes not sure which) occasionally. This happens every 5-10 minutes, and then is off for the same amount of time, 5-10 minutes.
The way I can make it 'crash' is by downloading a large-ish file. (Usually 100Mb+)

Also, my computer is set up to dual boot with Linux-Ubuntu. But I know Ubuntu could have nothing to do with this issue since Windows 7, and Ubuntu are on completely different hard drives.
I don't have the internet crashing in Ubuntu, ever. That is why I use it much, much more than Windows. I use Windows maybe.. maybe, one a month to fetch or file or two.
It would just be nice to have full internet access on my Windows drive so I can use
Windows-only features.
I have a few virus/malware detectors, suspecting there was some kind of worm or something that was causing this, and I found nothing.
I updated the drivers on my wireless receiver but that proved not to help.
Anyone else have this problem?
It is really discouraging me from using Windows..
Also, any suggestions?

Thanks.

It sounds like you're experiencing frequent internet connectivity issues on your Windows 7 setup, specifically when downloading large files. Since the problem doesn't occur on your Ubuntu installation and only affects Windows, we can focus on troubleshooting Windows for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the intermittent internet disconnections in Windows 7: 1. Update Network Adapter Drivers: - Make sure that the drivers for your network adapter are up to date. Update Network Adapter Drivers: - Make sure that the drivers for your network adapter are up to date. You mentioned updating the wireless receiver drivers, but it might be worth checking again or trying a different version of the driver. 2. Check Power Management Settings: - Sometimes, power management settings can interfere with the network adapter's performance. Ensure that the power-saving features for the network adapter are disabled. 3. Disable Auto-Tuning Feature: - Disable the TCP Auto-Tuning feature in Windows as it can sometimes cause network issues. You can do this through the command prompt with administrative privileges:
Code:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
4. Reset TCP/IP Stack: - Resetting the TCP/IP stack can also help resolve network connectivity issues. Run the following commands in an elevated Command Prompt:
Code:
netsh int ip reset reset.log netsh winsock reset
5. Check for Malware: - Run a thorough malware scan using a reliable antivirus program to ensure that there are no malicious software causing network disruptions. 6. Disable IPv6: - Try disabling IPv6 temporarily to see if it improves your internet connection stability. You can disable it through the Network and Sharing Center. 7. Check Event Viewer: - Look for any network-related errors or warnings in the Windows Event Viewer that might provide more insight into the cause of the connectivity issue. 8. Check for Windows Updates: - Make sure your Windows 7 installation is fully updated with the latest patches and updates from Microsoft. 9. Contact Manufacturer Support: - If the issue persists after trying these steps, consider contacting the manufacturer's support for further assistance. By following these steps, you may be able to identify and resolve the internet connectivity issues on your Windows 7 system. If you have any further questions or need assistance with any of these steps, feel free to ask!
