Internet Explorer 9 not opening. It takes about 10-30 mins for an error to finally show up with something along the lines of "Internet Explorer could not open.... missing file inetcpl.cpl
I searched for solutions, tried deleting the 2 updates that caused the error and such, still no hope.
Before i am advised to check my files/repair files, my C drive is dirty/corrupt. Checkdisk doesn't
fix anything either.

Solution
It seems like you're facing a couple of issues on your system with both Internet Explorer and file corruption on your C drive. Here are some steps you can take to address these problems:

Internet Explorer not opening:

  1. Reinstall Internet Explorer: You can try to reinstall Internet Explorer to fix any corrupted or missing files.
  2. Run SFC Scan: Although you mentioned that your C drive is corrupt, running an SFC (System File Checker) scan could help repair system files related to Internet Explorer.

C drive corruption:

  1. Data Backup: Before attempting any repairs on your C drive, ensure you have backups of your important data.

C drive corruption:

  1. Data Backup: Before attempting any repairs on your C drive, ensure you have backups of your important data.
  2. Repair File System Errors: Try running a thorough disk check to find and repair file system errors. You can do this by running a command like chkdsk c: /f /r in an elevated Command Prompt.
  3. Repair Disk Errors: If the file system repair doesn't solve the issue, try repairing disk errors using third-party disk repair tools or manually fixing bad sectors if possible. For both of these issues, it might be beneficial to address the underlying disk corruption first. Once the C drive issues are taken care of, resolving problems with Internet Explorer may become easier. If you continue to experience difficulties, consider seeking professional assistance or using dedicated repair tools for these specific issues. Feel free to ask if you need further assistance or clarification on any of these steps!
