When I download a file to my desktop it's hidden until I right click and click refresh. After that I can see it. If I go through windows explorer and click on "Desktop" I can see the files even though they are invisible when I go to my desktop. Windows 7 is the most miserable OS I have ever used. It's nothing but problems caused by lousy, sloppy programming they tried to hide with completely useless flash that, in itself causes even more problems. It really pisses me off that from this point on, this is the only option... that is until windows 8 comes out, and I'm sure that will be even worse. If I could find software for Linux that does what I need to do I'd drop this giant heap of garbage faster than you could say "I hate 7".

Check Desktop Folder Properties: - Right-click on your desktop and select "Personalize." - Click on "Change desktop icons" on the left side of the window. - Ensure that the checkboxes next to the desktop icons you want to see are checked. 4. Reset Folder View Settings: - Open Windows Explorer. - Go to the "View" tab and click on "Options." - In the "Folder Options" window, go to the "View" tab. - Click on "Reset Folders" or "Reset Folders to Defaults." 5. Check for Malware: It's also a good idea to run a malware scan using your antivirus software to ensure that malicious software is not causing the issue. 6. Consider Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows 7 system is up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. Sometimes, system updates can address known issues. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be worth considering other operating systems like Linux. Linux distributions offer a range of features and customization options that might better suit your needs and preferences. Popular distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, and Linux Mint are user-friendly and reliable alternatives to Windows. If you need further assistance or have any specific questions related to Windows 7 or exploring Linux as an alternative, feel free to ask!
