Windows 8 Is it safe if I create a personal wifi hotspot with My WIFI Router?

I would like to create a hotspot on my laptop with my wifi router software,I can set up the SSID and password very easily.But I wondering is it safe?Or it's better if I created one with wireless router?

Hardware encryption are better i think and also u don't always have to turn on the laptop to enable the hotspot so router is better
