I've searched various forums as well as support from Microsoft and HP for a permanent solution to the conflict between Windows 7 and the IDT audio codec. It's a problem which occurs across multiple platforms: the audio driver freezes, requiring a system restart. It typically happens with web applications using flashplayer, although not exclusively.

Anybody here know of an alternative to the IDT codec, since none of the manufacturers have offered a solution?

I use that drive in my system without problems, as far as I know. The Driver details says "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC" File version 6.1.7600(win7_rtm.xxxxxx). I do not know of an alternative. Mine is a 32 bit system.

What system do you use for your sound? Could it be something else is causing the problem?

Maybe some computer specs would help us..
