Windows 10 Kernelbase.dll error

It would sure be nice to have the hardware specs of the Computer you are having difficulties with. Make/Model if an OEM computer (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.)? Is it a desktop PC or laptop? Or is it a self-built PC (one you purchased parts for and built yourself), or a custom-built PC (one you paid someone to assemble your parts or purchase parts and assemble & test for you)??

Please also download the free SPECCY diagnostic from piriform.com and post back the output text result file here for us to look at.

Also, if you have a self-built PC or custom-built PC; we need the specs if you have the parts list, or you can use SPECCY to get those, but we also have to get the EXACT PSU Make/Model and wattage off the PSU label. There's a possibility your system is overtemping if you have an underpowered PSU for your rig.

Have you run hardware diagnostics on your RAM memory sticks and Hard Drive yet? If not, you should also do this too. See these 2 excellent links to help you do that if you do not know how:
MEMORY DIAGNOSTICS:
Memory Diagnostics
HARD DRIVE DIAGNOSTICS:
Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

It's important to provide us with ALL your hardware specs, since you don't seem to have benefitted from a software solution, it's time to look at the hardware inside your computer. My mantra for years has been "NO SOFTWARE ON THE PLANET CAN FIX BROKEN HARDWARE!!!".
My background is hardware design and systems engineering, so we don't look at these things until software solutions fail to provide you a solution to your app crashes.

We can then advise you further.

Best of luck, :encouragement:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

(path for pol.exe listed here)

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I have just redownloaded and installed Microsoft Visual Runtime Library C++ 2008 x64. Every other visual runtime download I tried said I had up to date versions...so maybe I'm on to something here?

Hi

x86 means that it's 32 bit, no idea why it doesn't say x32?
But you will see that you have a Program Files Folder and a Program files (x86) folder.

I have no experience with Final Fantasy XI but I'm running a dozen other games from The Secret World, and The Elder Scrolls Online to Black Desert Online, Age of Conan, the newer Tomb Raiders etc. and they all run fine in Windows 10, in fact I've not found anything that doesn't run even my old Tomb Raider games from 10 or more years ago.

It seems to me that unless you are seeing problems with other programs, then the game itself it causing the problem.

I would try reinstalling the game again, but make sure you don't install it to the same install path that you have previously.

The will cause Windows to see it as a new program and not pick up any preferences or settings left over from the previous installation.

Just make a folder named Final Fantasy in the root directory (not the program files folders) of the drive and install it there.
If you have more then one hard drive then I'd install it on the drive that Windows isn't on.

that involves rebuying the game and then 6 hours downloads/installs/updates...which I already tried once....but I did save it back to the same path.

also yeah....every other game has worked fine. these are the games ive tried....

everquest 1
guild wars 1
final fantasy 14
elder scrolls online
witcher 3
gta 5

I'm starting to think its the game too but when I get appcrash details naming things like dxd8.dll kernelbase32.dll and c++ visual runtime errors I'm not so sure (even if they cause no problems on all those other games). tbh i'll save myself £40 if I quit ffxi too as I run 3 accounts on it. no point playing if it crashes and lags all the time tho

also ffxi runs its not like it just stops me from playing altogether. its a random crash to desktop. the longer I play for the worse the screen lag/refresh gets too, and the higher the temperature of the cpu and motherboard creep up (i.e starts around 50% then ends up around 70%). I can leave any of the others running for days with no problems. one thing I did hear is that on newer systems ffxi is forced through the cpu and not the shiny gpu I spent all my money on (gtx980m) so maybe the cpu is bad. maybe 3 instances of ffxi uses up more resources than just one of any of the other games. just to note though...I still get the crash to desktop with only one instance running but the temperatures don't rise. I've also had people say my rig should be able to run 10 instances of ffxi with no problems whatsoever
