Windows 8 Keyboard with volume keys: How to increase/decrease by 1% increments?

If I press the VolumeUp/VolumeDown keys on my keyboard, the volume increases and decreases by 2% steps.

But on headphones, 2% is too loud sometimes.

How can I set the volume by 1% increments easily, using the shortcut keys on the keyboard?

I'm pretty sure it's hard coded to 51 steps (2%)

You will see a little speaker symbol in the lower right corner.

Left-tap on it. A little slider will fly up. Move the slider. You have now changed the sound volume.

I don't know whether you didn't see this or not. it's simple enough to miss, and an astonishing number of my counsel customers not exclusively don't see it, they now and then overlook where to look.

It is also possible to use the keyboard volume buttons to show the on-screen volume slider that was introduced in Windows 8, then use the scrollwheel. That works in 1% increments.

Using the keyboard would be easier, but the latter option is still acceptable.
