Windows Vista lapton does not detect hdtv as display

I want to connect my laptop to hdtv ,but when i connect all wires , nothing happens ... can any1 helpmy plz .
I have ati radeon xpress 200m video card , vga to dvi adaptor , dvi to hdmi adaptor , hdmi wire , philips hd ready tv ...
