Windows 10 Laptop stuck on loading screen.

I have a HP Pavilion, and for the last two days it’s been stuck on either the loading screen, diagnosing screen, or preparing updates. No matter what I do I can’t get past it. I’ve tried every type of resetting, which has worked in the past when this has happened.

All I want is to get into my computer so I can get all my stuff off of it to put on a new one when I get it. Please help, I have some really important things on there.

It's likely just some corruption in windows. Try turning the computer on and tap F8 until you get the advanced start up menu. Let us know if you can get to this screen.

if the data is important and you plan to replace the laptop with a better one anyway, then I would remove the hdd (ask a computer shop if you don't feel up to it)

Methods for backing up data
  • Boot to a live operating system
    • Download a live bootable operating system such as Ubuntu
    • Use a usb drive and Rufus to create a bootable usb drive
    • Boot to the usb, select 'Try Ubuntu'
    • Plug in an external hard drive and copy your data over
  • Connecting the drive to another computer (as ussnorway suggested)
    • Remove the hard drive from the computer
    • Using a sata to usb adapter plug it into another computer
    • Copy data
Both methods require some technical knowledge to complete, again as ussnorway suggested, you may want take it to a shop or if you know someone that works on computer they could do it.
