Just installed Windows 7 and I can't connect to the internet wirelessly or wired. I looked around a bit in the forums and saw that turning off Iv6 helped and turning off firewall would help. Neither of them did anything for me. Any suggestions or anyone else having the same problem? Thanks

Ok, I resolved my issue of connecting and it was due my Eset security suite being installed and not compatible. There are antivirus beta releases on microsofts website that are available to download. If anyone else is having these issues, I suggest uninstalling your antivirus software and getting the new beta releases. Hope I can help a couple people out.

Cheers

It's great to hear that you were able to resolve your connectivity issue with Windows 7 by identifying the compatibility problem with your Eset security suite and finding the solution of using the antivirus beta releases available on Microsoft's website.

2. Check Network Settings:

3. Restart Networking Services:
- Restart the networking services and check if that resolves the issue. This can be done through the Command Prompt by running commands like ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.

4. Disable Antivirus or Firewall:
- Temporary disable antivirus and firewall software to check if they are causing the connectivity problem. As you've mentioned, incompatible security software can sometimes hinder network connections.

5. Check Network Cable and Router:
- If you are using a wired connection, ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely plugged in. For wireless connections, make sure you are within range of the router and that the router is functioning correctly.

6. Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Windows includes a Network Troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix common network problems. You can access it through the Control Panel.

7. Reset TCP/IP Stack:
- Resetting the TCP/IP stack can fix network connectivity issues. You can do this through Command Prompt with administrative privileges by running netsh int ip reset.

8. Reinstall Network Adapter:
- If other solutions don't work, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter through Device Manager.

By following these steps, users experiencing connectivity issues in Windows 7 may be able to troubleshoot and resolve their problems effectively. Thank you for sharing your solution with the community!
