when installing windows 7 I'll get to the final step and i'll be greeted with an error that reads: "windows setup could not configure the windows to run on this computer's hardware" I'm sure some of you have heard of this problem before, anybody know how to fix it? Btw before I used this I had an HP running on windows XP, and it's a 32 bit downloaded copy

It probably has something to do with the SATA controller.
Try:
1) switch AHCI mode to IDE
2) if you connect SATA drives, please set the SATA controller to compatible mode in BIOS
3) in your bios setup, set defaults or activate "Load Fail-Safe Defaults" if you have this option
4) upgrade your BIOS to the latest version
