Microsoft has announced that Microsoft 365 apps will continue to receive security updates on Windows 10 until October 10, 2028, extending support three years beyond the operating system's end-of-support date of October 14, 2025.
Feature updates for Microsoft 365 apps on Windows 10 will cease with version 2608, released on the following dates:
  • Current Channel (including all versions for individuals and families): August 2026
  • Monthly Enterprise Channel: October 13, 2026
  • Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel: January 12, 2027
After these dates, the apps will receive only security updates until October 10, 2028.
While Microsoft 365 apps will continue to function on Windows 10 post-October 2025, Microsoft advises upgrading to Windows 11 to avoid potential performance and reliability issues associated with using an unsupported operating system.
For users unable to upgrade to Windows 11, Microsoft offers Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows 10, available for purchase. This program provides security updates for the operating system itself, with pricing that increases annually.
In summary, while Microsoft 365 apps will receive security updates on Windows 10 until 2028, users are encouraged to transition to Windows 11 to ensure full support and access to new features.
