Here's today's tech update from PCQuest: Microsoft releases first preview of Windows 11 25H2 update for Insider users
Microsoft debuted the first preview of Windows 11 version 25H2 for Windows Insider Program participants.
The 25H2 update, coming to everyone in the second half of 2025, features a 40% smaller installation package, aiming to reduce install time and limit system disruption.
It also introduces improved servicing methods, with enablement packages (eKBs) that allow for upgrades after a single restart using the current Windows servicing model.
The build resets the 36-month support cycle for Enterprise and Education, and 24 months for Pro editions.
Both 24H2 and 25H2 share the same source code.
You can try 25H2 now by joining the Windows Insider Dev Channel; Microsoft will start a wider rollout of 24H2 on October 1.
