Here's today's tech update from PCQuest:
Microsoft releases first preview of Windows 11 25H2 update for Insider users
- Microsoft debuted the first preview of Windows 11 version 25H2 for Windows Insider Program participants.
- The 25H2 update, coming to everyone in the second half of 2025, features a 40% smaller installation package, aiming to reduce install time and limit system disruption.
- It also introduces improved servicing methods, with enablement packages (eKBs) that allow for upgrades after a single restart using the current Windows servicing model.
- The build resets the 36-month support cycle for Enterprise and Education, and 24 months for Pro editions.
- Both 24H2 and 25H2 share the same source code.
- You can try 25H2 now by joining the Windows Insider Dev Channel; Microsoft will start a wider rollout of 24H2 on October 1.
