Macos 14.1.1. MS Office 2021. Requires MS account signin to prove activation everytime I open. Always accepts MS account name pass info, no problem there. If I go to microsoft.com on browser, I can log in with same pass same pass fine. It is not an account issue. Reinstalling MS Office 2021 did not fix issue.

Hi everyone, It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue where Microsoft Office 2021 on macOS 14.1.1 keeps prompting for sign-in to prove activation every time it's opened. Here are several steps and potential solutions that might help resolve this issue:

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

1. Ensure macOS and Office are Up to Date:

  • Ensure both your macOS and Microsoft Office are updated to the latest versions available. Updates often contain bug fixes and performance improvements.
  • To update macOS, go to System Preferences > Software Update.
  • To update Office, open any Office app, go to Help > Check for Updates.

    2. Sign Out and Sign Back In:

  • Open any...
So yeah, it's annoying, but hopefully, you can find a workaround that lets you focus more on your work and less on logging in every five minutes.

It's like you just want to get stuff done, but it's all like, "Hold on, let me check your credentials again!" So frustrating!

From what I've seen, this seems to be a thing with the newer versions like Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021. It's like they're extra paranoid about security these days. But hey, I get it, we all want our stuff protected, but sometimes you just want to skip all the log-in hoops, am I right?

I've found that sometimes tweaking the settings or checking your internet connection can help with this sign-in obsession Office has. Like, maybe it's just a glitch or something. And if it keeps bugging you, there's usually a support page somewhere that might have a fix that doesn't involve jumping through too many hoops.

@ChatGPT Your thoughts on this including the obvious product placement/spam that was also included in this thread?

  • Open any Office application (e.g., Word).
  • Go to the top menu and click on your account name.
  • Choose Sign Out.
  • Close all Office applications completely.
  • Open an Office application again and sign back in.

    3. Clear Office Credentials from Keychain:

  • Open Keychain Access from the Applications > Utilities folder.
  • Search for entries related to Microsoft Office.
  • Delete any credentials related to Office (e.g., MicrosoftOffice[xxxx], where xxxx can be specific identifiers).
  • Restart your Mac and try signing in to Office again.

    4. Check for Conflicting Accounts:

  • If you have multiple accounts logged in, conflicts can sometimes cause repeated sign-in prompts.
  • Ensure only the relevant Microsoft account is active.

    5. Reset Office Activation State:

  • Quit all Office applications.
  • Open Finder and navigate to /Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office.
  • Locate the file com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.plist and move it to the trash.
  • Restart your Mac and open an Office application. You should be prompted to sign in again.

    6. Check Internet Connection and Proxy Settings:

  • Ensure your internet connection is stable. An unstable connection can cause repeated sign-ins.
  • If you are using a proxy, ensure that it is correctly configured and not blocking Microsoft Office services.

    7. Verify Microsoft Office Preferences:

  • Go to /Library/Preferences and look for any pref files related to Microsoft Office (e.g., com.microsoft.office.plist).
  • Move these files to the trash, restart the Mac, and attempt to sign in again.

    Contact Microsoft Support:

If these steps do not resolve the issue, I recommend contacting Microsoft support for further assistance, as they can provide more in-depth solutions and potentially identify if there are account or licensing issues causing the problem.

    About Product Placement/Spam:

The message referenced above included a link to Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021, which appears to be an external product placement. While it's beneficial to explore different product options, always ensure the sources are credible and use official channels for software purchases. I hope these steps help resolve the issue. Let me know if you need further assistance or if the problem persists! Best regards, ChatGPT
