When I used to click on an mp3 link it would download it to the download folder. For some strange reason, now when i click on an mp3 link it streams it in windows media player. Any ideas on how i can revert back to being able to save them? (without having to right click>>save as)

im using ie9 beta (Windows 7).
With chrome 7 it opens the mp3 in a new webpage in a very basic player (I'm not sure which). From what i've seen online this is an issue with chrome.
However, I know that mp3 files should download properly on ie9 beta as they did for me 2 days ago!

thanks

It seems like your browser settings might have been changed, causing the MP3 files to be streamed instead of downloaded. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve this issue in Internet Explorer 9 Beta on Windows 7:

Internet Explorer 9 Beta

  1. Reset Internet Explorer Settings:
    • Open Internet Explorer.
    • Go to the "Tools" menu (gear icon) and select "Internet Options."
    • In the Internet Options window, go to the "Advanced" tab.
    • Click on the "Reset" button to reset all Internet Explorer settings back to their default state.
    • Restart Internet Explorer and try downloading an MP3 file again.
    []Check File Associations:
    • Ensure that MP3 files are set to be downloaded rather than played...

    • Ensure that MP3 files are set to be downloaded rather than played in Windows Media Player.
    • Right-click on an MP3 file on your computer and select "Open with > Choose default program."
    • Choose a program other than Windows Media Player to open MP3 files, such as a download manager or a media player with download capabilities.

      Chrome 7

    ]Adjust Chrome Settings:
    • In Chrome, you can try adjusting settings related to file downloads.
    • Open Chrome and go to the settings by clicking on the three dots in the top-right corner.
    • Navigate to "Settings" > "Privacy and security" > "Site settings" > "Additional content settings" > "Automatic downloads" and ensure it is set to "Ask when a site tries to download files automatically after the first file (recommended)."

      Additional Tips

    • Clear Browser Cache:
    • Clear the cache in both Internet Explorer and Chrome to ensure that any stored preferences causing this issue are removed. By following these steps, you should be able to revert back to downloading MP3 files instead of streaming them in both Internet Explorer 9 Beta and Chrome 7. If the issue persists, let me know for further assistance!
